What is a brokerage Calculator?
The brokerage your broker charges is usually the smallest line item on a contract note. Securities Transaction Tax (STT), stamp duty, exchange transaction charges, SEBI fees and GST on top of brokerage all add up — and delivery and intraday trades are taxed differently, which catches people out when they compare a trade’s "profit" to what actually lands in their account.
Enter your buy price, sell price, quantity and segment to see every charge broken out and your true net P&L.
What’s included
STT is charged on both legs for delivery trades but only on the sell leg for intraday. Stamp duty applies only on the buy side. GST at 18% applies on brokerage plus exchange transaction charges plus SEBI charges — not on STT or stamp duty, which are taxes, not services.
Frequently asked questions
Why is STT different for delivery vs intraday?
Delivery trades attract STT of 0.1% on both the buy and sell value, since ownership actually transfers. Intraday trades — squared off same day, no real delivery — attract a lower 0.025% STT charged only on the sell side.
What brokerage should I enter?
Most discount brokers charge a flat fee per executed order (commonly around ₹20, sometimes ₹0 for delivery) rather than a percentage — check your broker’s tariff sheet and enter their per-order flat fee.
Are these charges the same for F&O trades?
No — futures and options have their own STT rates and a different charge structure (including a distinct stamp duty rate). This calculator is built for equity delivery and intraday trades specifically.
